[ Displayed on the screens all across the prison first thing in the morning are just the words "Carnival Corpse" for two full minutes. Cryptic to anyone who isn't familiar with what it is, certainly. After those first few minutes, the words shrink and go to the top of the screen and are accompanied by a bracket of various inmates.

At the bottom of the screen, a 32-bit cartoon of Neornithes's own bird mascot marches back and forth beneath the bracket with a waving banner that says "Cutthroat Carnival! Bid now!" Still no response until finally the morning announcements get started and none other than the President speaks up... ]

Good morning. I hope you all got a lot of rest last night. Though I guess some of you were probably worried about money.. well, don't worry about it. I deposited 100,000CP into everyone's account this morning. Oh, don't go spending it on candy yet though. If you need an antidote candy, you've got until the end of the day so you might as well try to do something more fun with it.

Today's a Carnival Corpse. I don't know how many of you know what that is, so I'll explain. The Deadmen are pitted against each other with only their bodies as weapons and we all get to watch. But everyone gets to participate. Use that 100,000CP and whatever other CP you have and you can bid on items to interfere with the matches. Those who win the items get to choose which Deadmen the item will be inflicted upon. If the Deadman that it favors in the fight wins, you get double your CP back. It's an easy way to make money and potentially save your friends' lives during the show, so don't spend it all in one place the second I open your cages. [ A beat. ] Cells.

Either way, the whole thing is going to be broadcast on every TV in the prison. You won't miss a thing, and if you're a Deadman you can watch your opponents from the stands in person so you can think about just how to fight your upcoming prey. Anyone can bid on the items except for the Deadmen. No cheating, you have to trust your friends to help you. Every fight you win gets you CP, and you get candy for a month and 1,000,000CP if you win overall. You don't have to kill someone to win, you just have to knock them out. Losers play a penalty game, but we can worry about that later. I'll ping out the items one at a time to your communicators in a mass-message, you can bid by replying. Or keep your money and only save yourself for three days, hoping you've got enough for the next time you need a candy.. up to you.

I don't really care if you have questions and I'm pretty busy today because of this whole thing, so beyond that explanation you're on your own. President ouuuut. [ She says the last part as if she's saying "Peace!" You know, for the irony. ]

OPTION I: TEXT.

I'm really scared about this event. A "carnival corpse". . . that means people will die again, won't they? I might even die. I don't want to die. I'm not the only one who feels this way, am I?

I don't want to hurt anyone-- but I don't have any choice, do I? If I don't do it, bad things might happen. I hate this. All of it. When is it ever going to end?

OPTION II: ACTION (cafeteria, morning).

[Yui is at the cafeteria, getting her breakfast. But she seems to just be staring at it wistfully, not eating anything, not saying anything. There's just the empty expression in her eyes as she holds the chopsticks in her hands.After a while though, she snaps herself back to reality and decides to eat, regardless of how she doesn't want to. She doesn't feel like it.]

[She shivers, clenching her hands together nervously. She feels rather uncomfortable and might jump out of her seat if disturbed. A good reason to disturb her, right?]
