Grand opening!

[As soon as it's 7:00 am, there is a loud beep that echoes through the corridors of the prison. It's time for an announcement as the intercom comes on.]

Good morning my wonderful criminals, how are you all feeling? Don't worry, I can assure you that dizzy spell will wear off as soon as you get up and stretch those legs of yours. Be careful of your collar as well, as you might have guessed it has all sorts of functions! Also, today is December 8th, Sunday, and it's currently 7 am.

Now, it would be in your best interest to read your manuals that we've given you, just so you can get nice and settled in.

I'm afraid it's a little cold outside, if you have time to check the courtyards then you'll most likely feel that winter's breeze on your rosy little cheeks! Do be careful, I don't want any of you getting frostbite on your first day, that would be tragic.

Since it's the grand opening for you new comers, we are currently holding a small party in the cafeteria! Grab your soon-to-be-friends and head on down. We have tables set up and food as well!

[With that being said, the doors to the cells now slide open, allowing the inmates to leave their rooms.

In the cafeteria majority of the tables have been cleared away, and the ones that remain have red tablecloths on them, nice and fancy! The spread consists of luxurious food, even sweets of all kinds. Since it's December, it seems that the warden is in a rather giving mood, aren't you all lucky! ]

[Rise's not really in the mood to eat. In fact, she's merely staring at her plate absently for moments on end. She knows the truth: she's not the killer. But nobody would listen to her. The press just thought that it was some sort of scandal, and didn't really care about motive.

But even so, she'll still eat, albeit a little slowly. Though she's definitely not planning to participate in this prison's so-called "performances".]

[ambivalentpaws]

[It's a bit weird to think so many people around her age was sent here. Guess everything was a bit weird these days... Kanbaru is going to sit down next to her and shove more food in her direction.]

Hey. You're going to wither away if you don't eat anything.

[risetting]

Huh?

[Rise blinks, lifting her head up to the sound of the voice. This is one of the first times that someone's talked to her without saying, "Oh, hey, it's that famous pop star, Risette!" and other such nonsense. It puts a nostalgic smile on her lips as she laughs, albeit a little hollow.]

Oh, don't worry about me! It's just that, carbs, you know?

[Because eating too much when you're trying to stay thin in a place like this? Not exactly a good idea.]

Heh. You sound like some of the other girls that were on the team.

[Aah, even if that laugh seems a little hollow it's rather cute. Wait. No. This is prison not in school. She can think about those things later.]

Eating too little is just as bad, you know, since you'll just get a tummy ache after you eat more. Then you'd have to see the prison doctor. [Besides, it didn't seem like anyone would have trouble staying fit here.] And who knows what they're like.

[risetting]

... Hmm.

[She looks like she's about to do something, but then she stops, giggles a little bit and redoubles her smile.]

You're right. This isn't the time to be moping around, after all.

[And she's going to take those chopsticks and eat a little. Not too quickly, since that's not her style, but at least she's not trying to eat nothing at all.]

[ambivalentpaws]

[That's better. It gets a smile out of Kanbaru.]

That's better! [She starts eating some of her own food with slight more enthusiasm. Then after a pause.] I'm Kanbaru, by the way.

[risetting]

I'm Rise. Rise Kujikawa.

[ambivalentpaws]

Kujikawa-san then. [Oh, whoops. She only used her last name.] Guess I should mention my first name--it's Suruga.

[risetting]

Oh! It's nice to meet you then, Kanbaru-san.

[Just to be polite, really.]

It really sucks here, doesn't it?

[ambivalentpaws]

Yeah, I can agree with that.

[She gets the sentiment, really. She gives a firm nod of her head.]

Any prison we would have got sent to would've sucked. [Pause.] But this really does suck, though.

[risetting]

Well, I know I'm not supposed to be here, that's for sure.

[She's looking gloomier by the minute, though.]

[ambivalentpaws]

Really?

[She glances at her out of the corner of her eye.]

[risetting]

Ha, ha, yeah...

[There's a hollow laugh that comes from her as she scratches the side of her cheek awkwardly, eyes immediately lowering.]

I'm just here because they made a huge mistake back at where I live. I... never killed anyone.

[ambivalentpaws]

I believe ya. [She stays quiet for a bit. She understands that. Well, she almost did kill someone--but she didn't mean to. It was just in the heat of the moment. The guy forgave her, anyway.

She pokes at the food on her plate.]

The police these days are way too eager to throw people in jail.

[risetting]

You could say that again.

[Because honestly, it's the truth. All the police want nowadays is to take anyone to jail as long as the murders stop. Even if it wasn't their fault.]

[ambivalentpaws]

Yeah.

[She pauses for a moment.] Sure, I did what they caught me for but--well, it was an accident. It could have happened to anyone.

[risetting]

I guess when it comes down to it, they're just really strict.

[ambivalentpaws]

That's true. I couldn't imagine being framed for a crime I didn't commit.

[risetting]

... Huh, really?

[ambivalentpaws]

If you didn't do it then you didn't do it. That's all that should matter, right?

[risetting]

Yeah. I'm sure eventually they'll figure it out... and understand.

[ambivalentpaws]
