As it seems the administration is at a loss as how to resolve even simple matters, I've had a touch of extra time this morning. As Miss Oswald is currently unable to perform the proposed duties, I would like to take a moment of your time to discuss the prospective book club that was mentioned on the network some time ago. In her stead I will be moving forward with the project, but would first like to take this opportunity to once again assess public interest.

[ Far be it from something as simple as a blackout to prevent Loki from continuing on with his daily schedule. He had made a quick stop to the gift shop for a flashlight, but as far as he was concerned that would be the only deviation from his work. It was strange, really, how he both loathed and found the smallest bit of solace in the predetermined. In many ways it seemed that keeping himself caught up in a routine was the only way he could avoid going mad. Too much time to think wasn't particularly ideal, especially with how much of it he had done earlier that day. His determination to form something as silly as a book club was idea born purely of sentiment, after all. In a way he hated how he clung to the idea, but he imagined he would only hate himself more if he were to give up on it. ]

Good morning, everyone. It's Wednesday, January 23rd. It looks like we've got another light coat of snow this morning. The news said no more than two inches. Since you're probably all depressed and upset about things, I'll at least offer you something to cheer you up.

Anyone who can beat me in a game of hangman can have 30,000CP. I'm only playing one per person, but it's not a bad deal.

[ Right when the matches start, Rei decides to secretly start typing this message in for all to see. Might as well make idle conversation while they're running. She's already got the popcorn ready for this, after all. ]

It is actually quite amusing to see these "Deadmen" continuously fight over the prize and show their true colors. Of course, those are not the only people who have revealed themselves and their intents throughout the course of this tournament. Although I personally have nothing to lose or gain by participating in this tournament by any means, I'm still quite curious. After all, it is the semi-finals.

So who are you all cheering for? I want to see who's cared about the most in this game. After all, seeing a loved one get hurt in front of your eyes is quite the painful sight. It's rather sad, isn't it... That you cannot do anything to change that.

Of course, any other thoughts on the previous matches are welcome as well. It's quite boring to just simply sit around and just watch, after all. And if you wish to stay anonymous, I won't mind. I'd rather see your true colors than see a lie in reply.

[ Displayed on the screens all across the prison first thing in the morning are just the words "Carnival Corpse" for two full minutes. Cryptic to anyone who isn't familiar with what it is, certainly. After those first few minutes, the words shrink and go to the top of the screen and are accompanied by a bracket of various inmates.

CARNIVAL CORPSE

At the bottom of the screen, a 32-bit cartoon of Neornithes's own bird mascot marches back and forth beneath the bracket with a waving banner that says "Cutthroat Carnival! Bid now!" Still no response until finally the morning announcements get started and none other than the President speaks up... ]

Good morning. I hope you all got a lot of rest last night. Though I guess some of you were probably worried about money.. well, don't worry about it. I deposited 100,000CP into everyone's account this morning. Oh, don't go spending it on candy yet though. If you need an antidote candy, you've got until the end of the day so you might as well try to do something more fun with it.

Today's a Carnival Corpse. I don't know how many of you know what that is, so I'll explain. The Deadmen are pitted against each other with only their bodies as weapons and we all get to watch. But everyone gets to participate. Use that 100,000CP and whatever other CP you have and you can bid on items to interfere with the matches. Those who win the items get to choose which Deadmen the item will be inflicted upon. If the Deadman that it favors in the fight wins, you get double your CP back. It's an easy way to make money and potentially save your friends' lives during the show, so don't spend it all in one place the second I open your cages. [ A beat. ] Cells.

Either way, the whole thing is going to be broadcast on every TV in the prison. You won't miss a thing, and if you're a Deadman you can watch your opponents from the stands in person so you can think about just how to fight your upcoming prey. Anyone can bid on the items except for the Deadmen. No cheating, you have to trust your friends to help you. Every fight you win gets you CP, and you get candy for a month and 1,000,000CP if you win overall. You don't have to kill someone to win, you just have to knock them out. Losers play a penalty game, but we can worry about that later. I'll ping out the items one at a time to your communicators in a mass-message, you can bid by replying. Or keep your money and only save yourself for three days, hoping you've got enough for the next time you need a candy.. up to you.

I don't really care if you have questions and I'm pretty busy today because of this whole thing, so beyond that explanation you're on your own. President ouuuut. [ She says the last part as if she's saying "Peace!" You know, for the irony. ]

[after the event, adam is still simply boiling over with anger. he's made his decision already, and this is a post to call out people to listen to his plan. weiss had brought it up before, what she wanted to do, and enough waiting, he would put it into action.]

[and if anyone is to walk into the library, adam is seen standing by one of the shelves, a book in his hand and he's glancing over its contents. he's planning on using notes in this corner of the library, he already inspected the area and this is where the warden's cameras won't reach. however, she could probably hear so... it's why he's doing it this way.]

[The newcomer's voice is calm. She doesn't exactly sound disturbed but not reveling in the event as some were. If anything...it sounds even, almost sympathetic.]

That was quite a morning announcement! Those punished and those who know them have my deepest sympathies, of course, seeing such a thing in public would be horrifying. Especially first thing in the morning.

[She doesn't say anything about the Warden, however. The victims have her sympathies but she can't rebuke the Warden either.]

Aside from that--I'm rather new around here. The others I've met in my block seem welcoming enough but I'd rather speak with everyone. As for myself, my name is Doctor Aya Drevis. [She gives a small laugh at this.]

[ She didn't enjoy this morning's broadcast one single bit. Megumi may be snarky about other people's misfortune normally, but she's not a sadist and she's only a kid who doesn't really take well to seeing people get hurt. ]

[After the morning announcement today, Rei is going to buy several things at the gift shop, one of them being a gift for the Warden for her wonderful display. It's a necklace with a queen's crown charm attached to it. The gift is in a box and given to one of the guards to hand over, and it also comes with an anonymous message, though it's not as if Rei cares if the Warden knows who it's from.

The message says the following:

Thanks for the entertainment. They deserved it for not following the rules, after all. Hopefully the others who tried to go against you will get their proper punishment as well in due time. This present is for you, so that when people will see you with this crowned jewel on you, they'll know who the true queen is.

And then it's time to write up a post. She's been bored lately, and she needs some entertainment. Besides, she's certain that people will participate. She knows they will. Which is why in the afternoon, she'll type up an annoymous post for everyone to see.]

It's a harmless one. 20 questions. You can either guess my identity or guess something that I'm thinking of, your choice. There's only two rules you have to abide by. The first is that all questions must be able to be answered as "yes" or "no", otherwise, I won't answer. As a frequent user of the library and apparently the only person who is willing to say something about it, I'd like to remind everyone that the library is not a place for social engagements, fighting, yelling, or anything other than reading or studying! If you need to have a discussion with your friends? Do it elsewhere and stop being a distraction to people who actually want to do something besides flip burgers once we get out.

I don't have a problem getting the guards if the inmates who actually work in the library are too lazy to do their jobs.
