Grand opening!

[As soon as it's 7:00 am, there is a loud beep that echoes through the corridors of the prison. It's time for an announcement as the intercom comes on.]

Good morning my wonderful criminals, how are you all feeling? Don't worry, I can assure you that dizzy spell will wear off as soon as you get up and stretch those legs of yours. Be careful of your collar as well, as you might have guessed it has all sorts of functions! Also, today is December 8th, Sunday, and it's currently 7 am.

Now, it would be in your best interest to read your manuals that we've given you, just so you can get nice and settled in.

I'm afraid it's a little cold outside, if you have time to check the courtyards then you'll most likely feel that winter's breeze on your rosy little cheeks! Do be careful, I don't want any of you getting frostbite on your first day, that would be tragic.

Since it's the grand opening for you new comers, we are currently holding a small party in the cafeteria! Grab your soon-to-be-friends and head on down. We have tables set up and food as well!

[With that being said, the doors to the cells now slide open, allowing the inmates to leave their rooms.

In the cafeteria majority of the tables have been cleared away, and the ones that remain have red tablecloths on them, nice and fancy! The spread consists of luxurious food, even sweets of all kinds. Since it's December, it seems that the warden is in a rather giving mood, aren't you all lucky! ]

[ Anastasia takes notice of him quite some time while she spends time in her cell, looking through things and making certain to know everything about the room. Though she's not actively watching him, she's certainly noting that he appears to be watching, looking more than nervous.

Someone nervous here means they either did something enough to make a load of enemies he needs to watch out for or he's weak. At least those are the conclusions that she comes to. Going over each and every possibility would just be maddening and a waste of time. No, she'd rather just go to the source.

Anastasia takes confident strides toward him, taking care that she's seen as she approaches, a little smirk on her lips. ]

[It's harder to determine if she's new or not; she's in her cell but whether she's looking through things to acclimate or because She's just organizing to pass the time. Someone's still laboring under a distant subconscious impression that there's not a terrible lot to do in prison, despite the brochure that is the manual and the absurdity of this place making it clear that's not the case.

As unaware of that subconscious false assumption as he was of his less than perfect poker face or collar fidgeting, he looks genuinely surprised to be asked if he's bothered.]

Ah... No. Well, yes, it is prison...

We're all upset by that, but not all of us look like our tail feathers have just been caught by the cat.

[ Once she's a few feet away, far enough to not be intimate but close enough that she's not shouting across the cell block, she lowers her voice and lets her shoulders fall back. ]

So what did the cat drag in when he caught you?

Between the collars and mandated performances, half "dangerous and generally focused around killing your fellow inmates," I've gone from Lord Howe Island to the Tanzania. [With such a flat look and tone, it could almost pass as an attempt at dry humor, if not for the fact that he doesn't seem to be in a humored mindset in the slightest.] I'm not equipped for predation. Much less against anyone from a violent sub-culture.

[ Her hands at her sides moved inward and upward, fanning out until her palms faced up to the ceiling. ]

The only way to get what you want in this world is to find a way to take it for yourself. Many don't make it across the board, but those who do.. well, even a pawn can be queened in the course of a chess game. I don't discount anyone here no matter how much they claim not to hold any cards.

Certainly, depending on the nature of the Monday activities, it may be possible to thrive with skills other than combat. If you're prone to chess metaphors, it seems you must also be more intellectually than violently inclined.
