Case 1: Introduction of H

Greetings, Deadman Wonderland. I am Shotaro Hidari, Private Investigator. I know, prison is not the place one would expect to find a detective, but that's just the hard-boiled way I work.

Listen, if you ever need any help, the Hidari Detective Agency is here for you. From finding precious lost items, to protection, and anything in between. For a fee, of course.

The best way to contact me is to leave a note in the box with 'Hidari Detective Agency' written on it. Give me the basic details and a place to find you and I'll be there. I haven't been able to buy my own device for this network yet.

I look forward to showing all of you true hard-boiled investigation.

Until next time....

[ That sounds really suspicious to her, and she and Sherlock help the NYPD free of charge. ]

I guess you haven't worked on cases that would've helped put anyone in prison, since you seem comfortable openly admitting to being a detective.

My partner and I consulted for the NYPD before we were arrested.

We mostly worked homicide, but we ran into a tough case with a man who had very good lawyers that managed to frame us for trying to frame him.

[ ..Amongst various other things that they probably shouldn't have done over the course of the investigation and past investigations, but none enough to really warrant them being put in DMWL. ]

It's not a bad thing that your friends aren't here. This isn't really a nice place. Deadman Wonderland may have a reputation for everything being 'special effects' to the public, but I'm sure you've noticed the truth by now.

[ He's a detective, so he probably figured it out. Joan's giving him the benefit of the doubt for at least that much. ]

Want to share what you're in here for?

I can related. I'm personally hoping not to see any of our cases show up here either. It sounds like you guys did a pretty decent job while you were around.

Makes sense.

Do you read a lot of detective novels?

Were the detective novels why you got into the PI business?

[ Oh boy. That's quite the question, one that she's still not able to answer straight-forwardly given her previous occupation and position to Sherlock. It never helped that Sherlock never kept consistent with what he called her back when that was the case. Bodyguard, valet, the person who makes sure he doesn't do heroin, amongst other things... ]

Before I was a consulting detective, I was hired as live-in help for Sherlock. He already worked as a consultant for the NYPD after moving to New York, so I ended up tagging along and I ended up being pretty decent at it, so after my contract expired, he asked if I wanted to be trained and work alongside him as a partner.

[ ..Help sounds like she's a housekeeper or something, but it's better than flat-out saying "sober companion" since she does want to respect his privacy. ]

New York's pretty nice. Really busy and people are kind of rude, but it's still a good place with a lot of diverse people. I hope you get to go someday.
