Grand opening!

[As soon as it's 7:00 am, there is a loud beep that echoes through the corridors of the prison. It's time for an announcement as the intercom comes on.]

Good morning my wonderful criminals, how are you all feeling? Don't worry, I can assure you that dizzy spell will wear off as soon as you get up and stretch those legs of yours. Be careful of your collar as well, as you might have guessed it has all sorts of functions! Also, today is December 8th, Sunday, and it's currently 7 am.

Now, it would be in your best interest to read your manuals that we've given you, just so you can get nice and settled in.

I'm afraid it's a little cold outside, if you have time to check the courtyards then you'll most likely feel that winter's breeze on your rosy little cheeks! Do be careful, I don't want any of you getting frostbite on your first day, that would be tragic.

Since it's the grand opening for you new comers, we are currently holding a small party in the cafeteria! Grab your soon-to-be-friends and head on down. We have tables set up and food as well!

[With that being said, the doors to the cells now slide open, allowing the inmates to leave their rooms.

In the cafeteria majority of the tables have been cleared away, and the ones that remain have red tablecloths on them, nice and fancy! The spread consists of luxurious food, even sweets of all kinds. Since it's December, it seems that the warden is in a rather giving mood, aren't you all lucky! ]

[ Mingling with people is so not Shinjiro's thing. So whereas everyone else might decide to dig in on the food right away, he sure doesn't feel like it - maybe he'll grab a bite when most people are gone, he's decided, but for now he's fine just sitting here and not being hassled.

Granted, that kind of behaviour just makes him stand out even more. But it's not like he has much of a different choice-- being antisocial is hard and no one understands.

Feel free to spot him sitting there to the side by himself, giving a glare (a lazy one, sort of, but still) to anyone who looks his way. If it doesn't scare you, then hey, feel free to approach or downright hassle him.

When he thinks most if not all people have left to wander around the hallways instead he finally decides to get a few bites of the food himself too. Feel free to catch him in the act, he probably won't even realise you're there until you speak up. ]

[a guy standing off to the side, huh...

in all honesty, the way he was acting, glaring at the rest of them, it was a little like her friend back home. it made her nostalgic in a way, to see someone else acting that way, so xiaoyu wasted no time in going over to see what he was up to.

of course, she grabbed some cookies before heading over.

she walked up beside him, smiling down at the man that was sitting all alone, and she offered a cookie to him.]

Cookie for your thoughts? [yup, being this close to him she realized, dayum son, this boy is a cutie. she'll have fun talking to him.]

[ Oh boy.. it's not hard to tell what kind of person this is just from the way she smiles at him. It's been a while since he's really dealt with any girls like those - they don't generally hang out in the darker parts of the city at night, after all - but he still recognizes it fairly easily. Although it'd beg the question of how a girl like her got stuck here in the first place, but he decides to keep it to himself. Don't get involved, he tells himself, and after glancing at her for that long moment he instead looks away. ]

I'm not hungry. [ Like that's his real reason for sitting here alone... ]

[despite his words, xiaoyu isn't discouraged in the slightest. she's still smiling, retracting the cookie, moving so she's gazing out at everyone else as well. she's trying to figure out just what this guy is thinking about, staying off to the side and glaring at everyone.]

There's sure a lot of newcomers here. Kinda weird, guess we all decided to break the law at the same time.

[she turns back to him, shrugging a little.] Or something?

Crime happens all the time. It's only normal that a whole bunch of people commit it at the same time. [ Isn't he just a real ray of sunshine, Xiaoyu.. But he's probably just trying really hard to be offputting in general here. ]

That, or they were just so lazy that they waited until they had a whole group to bring here at once. Wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

[ooohh... she nods yet again. it's not that she was agreeing with every word he was saying, but he still made a lot of sense.]

I think it's easier to handle people in small groups than a large one, though.

...Something tells me you're not a people person either way.

[ Congratulations, you've figured it out.. except it's not really difficult to figure out with the way he seems like the biggest grump and isn't exactly being openly friendly right now with the way he's speaking. ]

Even if I was, would it matter? This is a prison, not some sort of club where we all go ahead and talk with each other and have fun or whatever. [ Granted, it's not like he exactly expected to see teenage girls in prison.. not as many as there are in the room right now, either way. ]

[Maya caught one of those glares when she looked over at the guy sitting off alone. It made her raise an eyebrow in amusement and head over.]

Hey, lone wolf, you're going to need to steel that glare if you want people to actually stay away. I'm sure that one will only succeed in getting some of these girls to come over thinking you're just broody and need someone to comfort you instead of realizing you're a criminal just like the rest of us.

If they think that someone who's locked in here isn't a criminal, then that's their own stupid idea.

[ They're stuck in jail after all, what else do they expect? People just happily bonding with each other since they're all oh-so-normal and oh-so-innocent? He won't even deny being a criminal, since he knows he is. He's already known for a long time, which is why he can say it so easily, even though his tone is obviously bothered at the idea of getting into a hassle with those girls. ]

[ He raises an eyebrow at her. Honestly, just from the way she's talking it's obvious enough that she probably wouldn't, but that's exactly why he's questioning it - anyone with half a brain wouldn't just believe someone in jail saying they didn't do anything. ]

I wouldn't, but I'm not an idiot. I knew exactly what I was doing to end up here.

[ "Me too", he almost says, but even though he fully well knows why he's here and he isn't planning on denying the act that got him here either, admitting everything feels a little too open. A little too vulnerable. ]

As all of us here should. Else this stay is just gonna be more painful than it has to be.

Akihiko, for once, doesn't feel all that hungry. He's not immediately rushing over to the meat, the protein, and instead makes his way around slowly until he spots someone familiar.

Way, way too familiar. In the worst possible way — not because Shinji is anyone but his BFF, but because he's the last person Akihiko would want to see here. ]

...Shinji?

[ He doesn't wait for a reply, instead opting to pull up a chair and sit right in front of him. ]

[ At least Akihiko is one of the few, if not the only person he's willing to make an exception for when it comes to talking. Shinjiro wasn't really looking at the crowd for a moment, so when he hears that voice it's like it comes out of nowhere. And it is a surprise considering what kind of place they're in, so his head snaps up to look-- ]

Aki? What are you doing here? [ The surprise actually even shows on his face. Shinjiro very well understands why he himself is stuck here and that he deserves it, but Akihiko isn't the kind of person to do anything that would get him into jail. No way. ]

[The emotions in the voices that Athena could hear was scary. There were a variety of them: anger, fear, excitement, and other such things. It causes her to cover her ears in fear as her entire body shuts down, causing her to freeze in place.

Feel free to spot her, especially since she's standing there like a statue.]

Consider moving before someone thinks you've turned to stone. You're in the way.

[ Someone's clearly got no problem with expecting people to move out of her way even if there's a rest of the room open to walk around. ]

[She's gotten over her sudden shock by shouting angrily, emotions clear on her face. Athena may be an easy read, but that won't stop her from trying to do stupid things.]
